** Slightly OT maybe, but I stumbled across this vid the other day:

Recorded by one of the audience in NY about a year ago, sound and images are
surprisingly good.

( Hear the guitarist quietly playing a famous Hendrix riff at the beginning
? )

The B52s were a huge hit here in Australia - " Rock Lobster " ( released
in 1979 ) was played to death on the radio as was the video on TV. Then,
after disappearing for a time, they came back in late 1989 with two monster
hits - " Love Shack" and " Roam".

" Love Shack" was No1 for 6 to 8 weeks across the country and stayed in the
top 50 for 6 months, " Roam" was not far behind.

Interesting fact: the rusty shack referred to in the song was where Kate
Pierson lived in the 70s.

And they say Americans have questionable taste?

I guess that might be "interesting" to those who are easily amused?

** There is simply no need for you to go out of your way like this - just
to prove, yet again, what an utter asshole you are.

That's funny, in a pathetic sort of way.
You see, "cool B-52s..." is an oxymoron. There is, nor was there ever,
anything "cool"
about them.
You antipodeans sure are culturally backward.

Steve,
Have you forgotten that the Aussies haven given the world the Bee Gees;
Mel Gibson & Rupert Murdoch?

** More B52s vids:

This live version of " Rock Lobster " is from 1979, Cindy (the blonde) is 22
and Kate 31.

Jump forward * 32 years* for this performance of "Roam" ( you do the
math ) recorded by an audience member, very close to the stage ( there is a
noticeable delay in the sound of the vid ).

"Roam" was nominated for an Emmy award for best pop vocal from a duo or
group - the year Linda Ronstadt and Aron Neville won.

I'm not much on rock music in general...

But Kate has a richness to her voice that's close to unique.
Think Mama Cass. Plus, I'd like to shag her. ;-)

** Kate has gone gay, since the last 5 years or so.

I guess that make your evil urge worse - right ?
