Discussion:
Advice - Behringer DDX3216 not saving new parameters
(too old to reply)

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have any thoughts and advice on this problem.

I have 2 working Behringer DDX3216 digital mixers ... one for live work and
the other in my studio.

Both now suffer the same problem => I save the patch and all looks well, but
after a power off & on the patch name & contents are as they were before the
problem started.

I can (and do) save the settings to a CF card but would prefer to have them
working as intended.

What seems odd to me is that the settings after a power on are not the
factory defaults - so where ever the memory is, it has retained what I wrote
to it some time ago. It just no longer writes to it now.

It seems to make no difference whether I choose a new patch number (unused)
or a previously used patch number.

Thanks in advance,
Steve W

Remembers only the old stuff, forgets any recent stuff ....

Flash memory exhausted its limited ability to accept updates?

Normally presets are in non-volatile ROM, and presets go to a separate
volatile ROM, either huge-capacitor or battery-powered backup. Usually
battery dies in which case you simply replace it.

However yours looks like possibly more than one memory chip, and one is
dead. Or a single chip that is partially dead.

This from the User Manual:

The DDX3216 stores files and settings in an internal flash
memory, i. e. all files and setup settings are preserved when the
mixing console is switched off, except for the UNDO and REDO
files for the dynamic automation, which are stored in a so-called
DRAM, and will get lost after power-down. The current
automation parameters are preserved, as are the setup
parameters, libraries and snapshot memories. What is more,
your DDX3216 stores the last snapshot used and recalls it after
power-up.

I'd also be inclined to go with Arny's suggestion, i.e. the Flash won't
write any more.
