Discussion:
Question: dbx SC32 or 64 units. Has anyone ever used them as channel insert processing?

I downloaded the Harmon HiQ-Net SystemArchitect software, installed
it, and started experimenting with the various dbx processors.
Although I never really looked at the SC32 or SC64 before, after
playing with it, it seems to me to be pretty well suited for use in a
live setting as channel insert processing for either FOH or Monitors.
I was wondering if anyone here has actually used these or heard of
them used in this manner? Between two of these units, it would be
nice to have up to 64 channels multiple insert DSP ability.

With as much flexibility as this offers in just 7" (4RU)of rackspace.
coupled with HiQ-net System Architect running on a 20"-22" Windows
tablet PC, I could see quite a potent and loaded rack in a rather
small rack configuration.

Yes, and yes. The SC32 is essentially a more configurable / fixed installation version of the driverack 4800 with the exception of the RTA capabilities and more i/o - which is cool because they are about the same price.

Using system architect you could design custom control panel address common things like graphic eq, dynamics threshold etc which you could operate in a live situation from your tabletPC.

Wow! Thanks for the reply to my months old post on this subject. :)

I had looked at what you suggested as a possibility considering the
rackspace reduction it would yield as well as the cost. While I'd be
perfectly willing to give up most of my rack processing, I'm still a
tad leery of giving up my Drawmers although I could see using an SC64
in what would be a hybrid digital/analog or 'digilog' system. The
idea of being able to lay a rack of digital I/O ch. insert processing
control via a large screen touch tablet on some unused channels of my
analog desk for around $5K (plus tabletPC) is rather appealing.
