(too old to reply)

Hi, I have been lurking around for years, and would like to ask for
some information.
I was given an (extremely) old pair of Dynacord S60 speakers, the Hi
Frequency speakers in them are not working and have been replaced by
bullet radiators which sound awful.
I have Googled and emailed Dynacord to no avail. Does anyone have any
ideas where I could find replacements?

** You will find them stocked in the exact same shops that sell spares for
Me109s, FW190s and Doodlebugs.

1. That is not a Dynacord S60 speaker box - the configuration is
wrong.
2. I did not say I wanted them for their sound or for my band.

You always were really fast with a useless answer.

Neil, why do you put your reply at the top?

Also, I think he's correct about the picture, I found another one that looks
about the same:

nt/boxen-und-pa-systeme/dynacord-s60-2-groessere-musik-lautsprecher/v/an6243

What makes you think the picture is not showing a Dynacord S60?

What makes you think the picture is not showing a Dynacord S60?
Sometimes it's just quicker. I have the speakers here in my Garage,
they do not look like that, perhaps it's a different year, or model,
that is why I am struggling to get the speakers I need.

** You are very much mistaken.

That pic IS definitely of an S60.

Here is one that shows the front ( with " Dynacord S60 " ) and inside too.

Fix the cross-over so that it fits the actual units, based on what Phil
writes it probably never did anyway!

Where I work for my day job is at the end of a 2.5 miles long asphalt road.
So the standard message to visitors is to say: once you have passed the
brigde, then follow the asphalt road until it ends at the gate. Guess what
happens to the gps crowd that do not pause to think.

No, they stop 300 meters from the gate, on the other side of a small hill
and pick up their mobile phones and call us and say "now we are here
according to the gps, but we find only a small lake and a golf course. Has
happened 4 times in a row.

** Sooo - you tell them it is 2.7 miles and watch them crash through the
gates.....

Reminds me of the old yarn about the Corvette captain in WW2 explaining how
he dealt with U-boats in mid Atlantic.

He got his the crew to pour gallons and gallons of green paint into the
water near where a sub had been located and then lie quietly nearby and wait
until the sub commander raised his periscope.

As it broke the surface, the periscope lens would become immediately covered
in a film of green and so the commander would keep ordering the sub to rise
further and further......

When the sub was about 200 feet in the air, the Corvette opened up with its
AA guns.

Might be the kind of tweeters that need no x-over.....

The ones I have are really old. I would like to re-furbish them and
give to to a friend of mine who collects really old sound equipment.
The cabinets have a 10" speaker at the bottom, then 2 x 8" speakers,
and at the top there are three of the small speakers I was asking
about, in an arc across the speaker.
There are no other speakers down the side as in the Photos. Apologies,
that was an S60, it just is not what I have, which also has S60 on it.

It's doubtful the current tweeters are much worse than what was in
there.

Sure, you could find replacements at any local music shop - for the
entire speaker. Really, I wouldn't bother wasting any time or money on
those boxes. Even he cheapest Behringer piece of shit speaker will
probably run circles around those relics. They were past their prime
30+ years ago.

** Not if they are ( as is likely ) piezo bullets.

Cos then the band between 2kHz and 6kHz would be missing.

** Wot - an 8 driver line array ??

Problem is, the sort of sealed back, cone " tweeters " that were originally
used have be unobtanium for decades.
