As one who does sound in the TV truck on occasion, i found the opening
of the Oscars to be not up to par.

It seems to have WAY too much orchestra and not enough Billy Crystal.

Gezz, there in the truck mixing the TV on a snake split. There should be
no feedback issues

I also notice the Daytoma NASCAR coverage seems to have the car noise
and announcers a little too close in level for my tastes at times.
And some of the sound bumpers sound hollow.

Pay more, get less i guess

The worst live sound I ever heard on TV .... This is an obvious re-mix.
The live broadcast was so bad that I assumed everything was saved on a
digital console, and the show files were lost when the show began ....
and the broadcast mix engineer had to wing it on the fly. .... oh I felt
the pain for the engineer, the band, the network ... and the listeners
.....

Anybody in the business has got there rear warm on occasion with issues.
I think FOH Pat Batzells rear was as warm as the Jet dryer
that blew up at the Daytona 500. The TV truck mixer is probably
doing hockey somewhere in central Alaska now.

I'm almost sorry I missed it .... almost ....
The links you provided, Bob, intrigue me. Anyone with decades of
experience has had embarrassing moments, some of our own fault, some
not. But all are learning experiences.
