Nice review. Crazy what they consider standard compression ratios. 16:1 for vocals? Ouch. You might try your battery test in record with only a line input or dynamic mic. I suspect the phantom power is using up quite a bit since it has to to take 3V of battery power and bump it up to 48V via DC-DC boost converter. The internal mics are condensers requiring power too. So a line level input or dynamic mic would net you the most battery time.

Almost a limiter, such can work well but only with a longer release, my
ADR Gemini Compact on limit with its automatic release is surprisingly
great for "show speak" and provides consistent level from a non
consistent speaker. The release times of this here contraption appear at
a glance to be an order of magnitude too short.
