Hi guys,

Ive got the misfortune to be using a behringer dsp8024 ultracurve on one of
my jobs (ive got no choice...its not my budget!) -ive had a look at the
remote software (ive got the right firmware version) but it seems it will
only run under win98 due to the midi implimentation...has anyone managed to
get it to run on XP?

Ive thought about dual booting or virtual PC but was thinking its all a bit
of a pain and thought maybe someone out there has programmed an app to run
it on XP?

It opens and says no midi I/P or O/P selected...the app opens and you go to
midi setup which is when it closes itself.........it seems about as reliable
as alot of other behringer stuff at the mo!!!

You did open up the XP program options box and put it in win98
compatibility mode? That may or may not work.

I wouldn't expect it to, because the symptoms strongly
suggested that the old Behringer software was atempting to
do device-level I/O on the MIDI ports directly. AFAIK,
that's a no-no under XP. XP *owns* all I/O devices because
to do otherwise is a security and integrity breech.

Furthermore, unlike a few other items like old Soundblaster
cards, XP doesn't seem to virtualize attempts to do hardware
device-level I/O on MIDI ports.
