Hello,
These components are offered for use by different band members who have never played together before for an upcoming gig, so this is what I have to work with:
1) Mackie PPM 406M powered mixer - provided by the sax player
2) Behringer XENYX 2442FX mixer - provided by the sax player
3) Phonic PowerPod 620 Plus powered mixer - provided by the drummer
My goal is to provide a monitor mix for my wireless In-ear-monitor consisting of my mic; backup vocalist's mic(s); drummer's snare and high-hat; and my instrument: bass guitar, without having the drums go through the FOH speakers.
In order to get the drum mics into my monitor mix, I am thinking of sending the signals from the drum mics through the Behringer XENYX 2442FX mixer to the drummer's PA, the Phonic PowerPod 620 which has its own speakers, via one of the Aux Sends so as not to have the drums go over the FOH speakers.
The FOH speakers will be powered by the Mackie PPM 406M powered mixer.
I spoke with an engineer at Sweetwater who told me the best way to hook up the Behringer to the Mackie is to connect the balanced Main Out jacks on the Behringer to a balanced line input on the Mackie, setting the gain on the Mackie to unity, which would free up two of the four unbalanced mono Aux Sends on the Behringer for monitor sends (as opposed to what Mackie recommends in their manual, which is to use a Monitor Mix out on the external mixer into the Power Amp Ins on the Mackie).
So, I'm thinking of using one of the Aux Sends to supply signal to my wireless in-ear monitor system, another of the Aux Sends to supply signal to stage floor monitors.
Can anyone suggest a better way?
Thank you in advance.
David
