Post by BOB UrzPost by MickeyPost by bob urzI am out on a christmas show with 23 wireless EW 550 series with this
new marvelous net1 interface. The only problem is i don't have the
right user manual to tell me how to hook it up to the laptop.
I know its some ip configuration thing, but the laptop does not
talk to the net1. Anybody got one of these and can tell me what
the network settings should be on the laptops ethernet port?
The downloadable manual is NOT the user guide that has this information
in it.
I am getting by doing it the old school way, but i would like to try
to use it if i could.
I don't have one, but I looked at the manual for you. You just connect
it directly to the PC -- not to a hub. (You could undoubtedly use a crossover
cable and a hub, though, or use the "uplink" connector on the hub/switch.)
Once you have done this, turn on the Net1 and the units it runs. Then
start up the WSM software and it should establish communication.
Well, it did not work. I tried to go direct from the net1 to the
laptops ethernet port. Had the laptop set all automatic DHCP.
laptop wotked fine connected to a local lan on the same port
for internet, so the laptop port is working. I suspect the net1
might be looking for a fixed IP, or there is some connect sequence
i am missing. If i load the software, it comes up but never connects
and displays the hooked up devices.
According to the manual at:
http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/resources/NET1_US.pdf/$File/NET1_US.pdf
I was looking at p. 15, and I quote:
The following applications with up to five NET 1 require the connection of
a PC :
Systems with up to 50 evolution wireless G2 rack-mount devices
Systems with up to 25 EM 3532 twin receivers
Mixed systems consisting of evolution wireless G2 devices and EM 3532
twin receivers
The MAC addresses of the NET 1 are indicated on the type plate .
Connect one of the sockets LAN 1 or LAN 2 of the first NET 1 to the
PC using an Ethernet cable.
Notes:
It is also possible to connect up to five NET 1 to a PC using a switch or a
router with switching function.
Do not use a network hub! Attempting to use a hub with NET 1 may
cause network failure or other data communications problems.
Then connect additional NET 1 via the sockets LAN 1 and LAN 2 using
Ethernet cables. The sockets LAN 1 and LAN 2 are identical, so it doesn't
matter in which order you connect them.
Then:
For reliable detection of rack-mount devices, we recommend the following
Post by BOB UrzSwitching the devices on
Switch on the devices connected to the NET 1.
Post by BOB UrzSwitching the NET 1 on
Press the ON/OFF switch to switch on the NET 1.
After switch-on, the green "READY" LED flashes, indicating that the NET 1
is being initialized. As soon as the NET 1 is ready for operation, the
"READY" LED lights up permanently.
If a connected device is detected by the NET 1, the corresponding green
"CHANNEL" LED lights up permanently and the infrared interface is
permanently backlit in blue.
Note:
It is OK to switch on all rack-mount devices and the NET 1 simultaneously
via a main switch if one exists.
Post by BOB UrzStarting the "Wireless Systems Manager" software
Start the "Wireless Systems Manager" software as described in the
instructions for use of the software.
Once communication between the PC and the NET 1 is working properly,
the yellow "REMOTE" LED on the NET 1 (and on all daisy-chained NET 1)
lights up permanently.
